Philosophy
Balance is essential for our well-being and how we treat all living things around us. In my twenties, I realized I have endless passion for helping others reach a balance in their health. Whether it's going on a sunset jog or eating a variety of nutritious foods, there are countless aspects of health that can be great for our bodies. Yet, some patterns that can lead astray. Our bodies communicate with us constantly, but it's often difficult to slow down and truly understand their messages. Let's embark on a journey of listening to your body and figuring out what it needs to achieve your own version of balance. It's a continuous process, but the changes you'll experience are significant.
I grew up in a family where both parents were holistic chiropractors, so it's no surprise that I decided to follow in their footsteps in helping others feel as good as they can. After receiving a bachelor's degree in illustration, graphic design, and sustainability from Point Loma Nazarene University, I went back to The National Holistic Institute to gain an associates of applied science degree in Neuromuscular Massage Therapy. As a Neuromuscular Therapist, I work at the junction between neurons and muscles: where trigger points typically form, affecting motor (from brain to muscles) and sensory (from environment to brain) nerve functioning. By releasing these dysfunctional areas and negating stress, I can mechanically release muscles while also bringing blood and oxygen to the area for healing.
In addition to formal training at The National Holistic Institute, I learned muscle techniques from my father and am captivated by his unwavering passion and dedication to the practice of Applied Kinesiology as well as innovative approaches utilizing food as medicine. As a therapist, my focus is on enhancing individuals' overall physicality by emphasizing the vital aspects of posture, movement, and metabolism—an intricate trio that intertwines seamlessly to create a harmonious and balanced existence.
Drawing inspiration from Dr. Janet Travel's Trigger Point Theory and Dr. Tom Myers Anatomy Trains, I adopt a comprehensive approach in releasing tension and promoting relaxation. However, what truly sets me apart is my dedication to treating the body as a whole. By acknowledging the interconnectedness of different symptoms, our nutrition, and our daily activities, I am able to address them holistically and provide my clients with unique and tailored treatments that facilitate overall wellbeing.
I have studied food as medicine through Evergreen Certifications and have acquired a Functional Nutrition Informed Professional (CFNIP) Certification. Enjoying the right fruits, vegetables, meats, oils and more is an art that I have always practiced and now I am beyond excited to help others fall in love with their food choices as well.
